A Strong Performance at Mock Magistrates Competition

A Strong Performance at Mock Magistrates Competition

Cheney’s Year Eight Mock Magistrates’ Team, ably coached by former team members from Years Twelve and Ten, had an excellent morning at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 10th March.  They defended a case involving the possession of 12 inch kitchen knife in a public place, against Cherwell, securing a ‘not guilty’ verdict for team member Sam, the chef who had run away with the knife to avoid a threatening situation.  They also prosecuted the same case against Burford School.  Thanks to a very strong team performance they came third overall out of the eight schools competing and very much hope to take part again next year.  Many thanks to Maya, Talia, Ella, Lenny, Yasmin, Mariyam, and Hazel for your support.
