Celebrating STEM with a Big Bang

Celebrating STEM with a Big Bang

Last month, I took a group of Year 8 students to Headington School's Big Bang event. As part of British Science Week, this scientific spectacular was designed to get young people inspired by science, technology, engineering and maths.

I was very impressed by our Year 8 students; Cheney should be proud. The day was split into different interactive and challenging workshops. The students got to solve a murder in a lab, design and race balloon cars, complete a complicated electrical project, experiment with the science of sound, and spend time in a beautiful inflatable planetarium. They worked together and with students from Headington School.

Even though there were lots of amazing things going on, I think my favourite quote of the day was during lunch from a very unimpressed Lilly:

"Do you know what this pasta reminds me of, Miss? Cheney Pasta!"
