Global Connections Through Art

A group of Year 10 GCSE Art students recently visited Modern Art Oxford to see Cinthia Marcelle's exhibition 'Disorder: Truth or Dare'. Over the course of the afternoon, the students encountered different elements of the exhibition and learnt about the political message of the work, which was partly inspired by the economic crisis in Brazil which has resulted in many school closures. Students recorded their responses on film and finished by making a collaborative installation piece using the same materials as were used in the exhibition. Sara Lowes at Modern Art commented on how mature, thoughtful, articulate and sensitive our students were. We plan to send our film to a school in Brazil to set up a dialogue with other students around the issues which so deeply affect young people.
