Heads Held High at European Youth Parliament

Heads Held High at European Youth Parliament

A team of Year 12 and 13 students recently took part in the European Youth Parliament regional debating competition at the Oxford Union. Cheney School were up against 12 other schools from the South Midlands region.  Throughout the day, nine Cheney students had to compete across seven debates on various topics. Their main debate on the EU's involvement in Catalonia saw the Cheney team beat the opposition 74 votes to 34 which was an impressive margin. The team impressed the judges with their clear preparation and ability to support their arguments with substantiated data. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed out on being taken through to the national finals, but the team left with their heads held high after a long day.

Well done to the following students who took part:  Inez, Thomas, Erica, Rani, Maya, Emily, Gabe, Talia and Ashwin.
