Language Enthusiasts get inspired!

Language Enthusiasts get inspired!

On the afternoon of the 25  January, five of our most enthusiastic linguists from Year 9 took part in an excellent Modern Languages event, held at Queen’s College Oxford. It was a beautiful sunny day and so the students were able to explore the college grounds before taking part in language specific workshops. The French, German and Spanish students not only explored their chosen GCSE language through activities such as writing subtitles for a film, but they were also given the opportunity to learn either Italian, Portuguese, Russian or Hebrew in 30 minutes!

The University provided 2 lectures to give students food for thought about a future in languages post-18 and an interesting and hilarious look into linguistics led by one of the leading Oxford University researchers in the field. Overall it was a great day and has hopefully inspired our linguists to spread the good news about language learning across the Cheney student body!
