Middle East Lecture for Year 13 Historians

Middle East Lecture for Year 13 Historians

Professor Eugene Rogan, Director of the Middle East Studies Centre at St Antony’s College, Oxford, led a 100-minute question and answer session from Year 13  historians on 23rd March.  The questions posed ranged from the future prospects of Oman to the nature of the Sunni-Shia divide in the politics of the Middle East.  It was a very exciting opportunity to put questions to the author of ‘The Arabs:  a History’.  Professor Rogan used his broad expertise of living, studying and travelling in the region to give us a fascinating insight into the changes which have taken place there, especially since the 1960s.  We very much appreciate his readiness to meet with Cheney students not once but twice this year.  He has promised to give a signed copy of his book to any student who get an A or A* on the Middle East paper. This was act as a strong form of encouragement as we move forward into revision.
