Self-determination, dedication and self-discipline.
According to Jesse Owens these are the three key factors behind his success. We hope to instil the same traits in our students as they strive for success in their own lives.
Who was Jesse Owens?
Jesse Owens was the American athlete who won four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the 100 yard dash, the long jump, the 220 yard dash and the 4x100 yard relay. These victories dented the plans of Adolf Hitler who had hoped to use the games to promote his concept of Aryan racial supremacy. The victories of Owens, a black American, were a reminder that race is irrelevant, and everyone can achieve if they are disciplined and dedicated.
