KEY STAGE 3
All students attend one Drama lesson per week. Within the curriculum there are opportunities for students to develop their acting/performing skills whilst also focusing on their ability to evaluate their own work and the work of others. Each year group experience different styles of drama including experimenting with genre such as comedy, horror and even Soap operas.
KEY STAGE 4
We now offer OCR Drama GCSE. An exciting course which gives students the opportunity to experiment with acting, directing and devising. Within the course there are three units with a focus on the creation of drama and theatre. Students will study at least two different scripted performances, have opportunities to create their own drama as a director and deviser and finally explore the technical side of performance through costume, lighting and technical support.
KEY STAGE 5
We currently offer Edexcel Theatre Studies A Level, a course which allows students to understand and put drama theory into practice. Students study three units over two years which develop both practical and theoretical skills. Students get the opportunity to study two contrasting plays and review live performance visits throughout the course.
Main School Production - The Drama department are proud to present a main school production every year. All students can be involved either onstage or backstage. We work closely as a team and use ensemble Theatre to ensure every cast member is on stage as much as possible!
