Philosothon UK

On Thursday 27th January, three Year 9 and three Year 13 Cheney students attended a 'Philosothon' - a competitive Philosophising event - at Magdalen College School (MCS), which was also attended by pupils from MCS, St Helen's and St Katherine's, Aylesbury Grammar, and King Alfred's Wantage.

In an intimidatingly unfamiliar environment, our students showed great courage and composition by contributing to all of the discussions and holding their own. Although it was unlikely we were ever going to win it as we were only able to field half a team(!), Orlando B was awarded a prize for the student who scored the most points for Cheney

The participating students really enjoyed the event:

"I enjoyed going to the philosothon because it was a safe and nice discussion and I think it was really interesting hearing other peoples takes on philosophical questions."

(Marlene P, Year 9).

If you are interested in finding out more about Philosophy and philosophising and are in Year 9 to 13, why not come along to the Philosophy Club in L21, Tuesdays 1:30-2:00pm.
