Year 10 student on being a female referee broadcast on BBC South News

Isla A in Year 10 was interviewed at school last Tuesday by BBC South Sports Editor, Lewis Coombes for a feature about her role as a female referee.

The interview was broadcast on the Thursday evening news at 18:30, with Isla talking about the importance of female representation in football, the challenges she has faced and overcome. It's a great watch and especially timely with the first females to officiate at the current World Cup tournament in Qatar this year.

Isla's story was picked up by the BBC South team through her submission to the BBC Young Reporter competition, following the BBC's visit to Cheney in October, as part of the BBC 100 Share your Story tour.

Lewis commented on how well Isla told her story, which is great news for Isla, now considering a career in Sports journalism!
