Why do we behave the way we do?

By studying A Level Psychology, students will gain a broad understanding of the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour. Psychology is a fascinating subject, where students are able to consider how behaviour can be explained through different perspectives and understand how psychological research is conducted. Students will learn a range of skills including critical thinking, numeracy and research skills.

Course content: This is a linear course assessed through three two hour written examinations at the end of Year 13:

Paper 1: Introductory topics in Psychology- Social Influence, Memory, Attachment and Psychopathology

Paper 2: Psychology in Context- Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology and Research Methods

Paper 3: Issues and options in Psychology- Issues and Debates, Schizophrenia, Forensic Psychology and Relationships
