A-Level Results 2019

Cheney’s school community is celebrating strong A-Level results today. Rupert Moreton, Head of School, said: “We are very pleased to see continued improvement this year, building on the success of last year. Our results show that a truly comprehensive school can have academic excellence as a central focus. This is evidenced in a 13% increase in A* to C grades to 75% overall and over 51% of all grades awarded at A* to B.  This is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff. Well done to them.”

Jolie Kirby, CEO of Community Schools Alliance Trust said: “I am incredibly impressed with the hard work and dedication of the students in the run up to the exams and the staff for the additional sessions and support they have given our students. It has been a real pleasure to watch our students mature and take a lead role in the life of Cheney School during their time in our Sixth Form. I have really enjoyed working alongside them and seeing them flourish in our culture of high expectations and mutual respect. Wishing each and every student huge success in their next steps”

We are particularly pleased with the performance in Computing, Economics, Latin and French where over 30% of our students achieved an A* or A. Additionally, 91% of our Maths students achieved an A* to C and 45% of our Physics students achieved either an A* or A grade. There were also many notable successes in other subjects.

Overall, our students sat 296 exams: 27% achieved A* to A grades, 51% A* to B grades and 98% A* to E grades.
