To all our students, parents, carers and staff, it gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Head Teacher, starting in September.
I am enormously privileged to be joining Cheney School, with its long history of strong community links and inclusive education for the young people of Oxford.
I am proud to become part of such a successful team, which has already done so much to take Cheney from strength to strength. I fully intend to continue this excellent tradition and to build on the best practice which already exists within the staff, the students, the parents and carers and the local community.
I live in here in Oxford; my wife is a doctor in the Emergency Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, and I have two boys who are at school locally.
Most recently, I have been Vice Principal of Kensington Aldridge Academy in West London, and before that, I was Head of Sixth Form at Magdalen College School in Oxford. I therefore have very recent experience of helping young people from the widest possible range of backgrounds to achieve their full potential.
I am very much looking forward to getting to know the school, the students and the parents and carers over the coming months, both formally and informally.
I would just like to close by thanking Rupert Moreton for his leadership of the school over the last three years, and to wish him all the best for his move to Bath.
