As of January 18 2021 we have changed the timings of the day so that all lunchtimes happen at 12.30.
This affects Years 7 and 8 and Sixth Form, whose lunch time moves an hour earlier to 1230.
The timings of the day are therefore as follows for Years 7 and 8:
0830 - 0900: tutor time
0900 - 0955: lesson 1
1000 - 1055: lesson 2
1100 - 1130: break
1130 - 1225: lesson 3
1230 - 1300: lunch
1300 - 1355: lesson 4
1400 - 1500: lesson 5
For Years 9 - 11, there is no change to either break or lunch.

There are a number of reasons our school day is like this:
- Allowing a 5-minute transition between lessons will provide teachers time for learning conversations with students at the end of lesson each as per the new Respect for Learning policy and procedure.
- The transition time between lessons means that time spent learning in the classroom will be a full hour. Currently time is lost at the beginning of each lesson whilst students get to their next lesson and get themselves ready to learn.
- A longer tutor time allows for a richer tutor experience and for topics to be covered in more detail.
- Tutor time at the beginning of the day allows tutors to assess vulnerable students’ needs before lessons start and offer additional support if required.
